Planting Flowers for Kuni

Every year, the Saturday before Mother's Day, my sisters and my mom get together for a wonderful service project. This year it was my mother's turn to choose and so we all headed over to our dear friend, Kuni Jackson's home to plant flowers in her garden. Kuni Jackson is my mom's Japanese "sister" and dear friend of 25 years. Kuni has suffered severe health problems all throughout her life, having to endure through years and years of Dialysis due to early kidney failure. She stands about 4 ft 10 inches tall and weighs about 80 pounds. We are not sure how long we will have our sweet Kuni here with us, but we pray it will be long enough for her to see her flowers bloom.

Here is my sweet Kuni holding our little baby Charly in the hospital the day after she was born. *This picture is truly priceless*

PS- We are going to Lake Powell this Wednesday for a week on a house boat with Jordan's family...We are taking Charly and I admit I'm a little apprehensive about it! (the 6+ hour drive there, the sleeping schedule, keeping an oversized lifejacket on an already oversized child, the sleeping schedule, the confined space shared between 20 other people, the sleeping schedule...you get the picture!) I welcome any tokens of reassurance or comforting thoughts to easen my anxiety!

Your family has the best little traditions! I love them. I was very nervous when we took Abe across country on a plane to visit Ken's family, but he did amazingly well. Just keep things around that are security for her and I'm sure it will all be great! Have fun!!!

Hey that service project is a great idea! As for your worries mainly SLEEPING SCHEDULE try to do as best that you can. When you get back home it will take her a little bit to get back into the swing of things but she will. No worries have so much fun!!

What a great tradition. It's fun to see Kuni on there. I'm sure she'll love her flowers. As for your lake powell trip I'd say that with a bunch of extra hands around willing to hold her...she'll be happy. She's probably too young...but we use a portable DVD player in the car and it has worked wonders for long trips. We are driving 2000 miles across the country with the kids in a month and are really going to count on movies to help.

What a great tradition for Mother's day! Your family is so wonderful.
As for the vacation . . . Just do the best you can. I have always been a stickler when it comes to Little Man's sleep schedule. But I realized that when we travel or have other extenuating circumstances, to just go with the flow. Sometimes he misses a nap, which isn't too bad because he would rather play anyway!

I hope you have a great time! Good Luck!
